Role Summary:
As a front-line supervisor, the Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily production operations. This includes supervising staff, maintaining safety and food hygiene standards, and ensuring production schedules and quality targets are consistently met. The role plays a key part in supporting dnata Catering’s operational goals by fostering team performance, streamlining workflows, and managing resources effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate all production activities and staff to meet daily targets and quality standards
- Schedule and allocate labor and resources based on daily operational needs
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene regulations (HACCP, GMP, ISO)
- Conduct training, mentoring, and ongoing performance evaluations for team members
- Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Maintain accurate records of production volumes, inventory, and quality control checks
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with procurement as needed
- Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements to optimize productivity
- Report production updates, issues, and recommendations to management
- Ensure safe handling and proper storage of food and hazardous materials
- Maintain visual standards of the production area, ensuring cleanliness, signage, and displays
- Arrange for the training of new staff and monitor and report on performance
- Assist with resolving day-to-day operational issues including complaints, shortages, and urgent catering requests
- Ensure the visual standards an image of the kitchen is maintained, such as store displays, signage and cleanliness.
- Work within a role and perform duties as required and directed.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2–4 years of supervisory experience in food production, catering, airline catering, hotel, or hospitality industry
- Food Safety and Sanitation Certifications (e.g. Food Safe, HACCP, GMP, ISO)
- Strong understanding of operational workflows, labor planning, and safety protocols
- Prior experience working in a unionized, multicultural environment is an asset
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Proactive decision-making and problem-solving ability
- Attention to detail with a focus on food quality and safety
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and inventory/production software
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
