Reporting directly to the General Manager - dnata Catering Vancouver, the role is responsible for all HR related tasks and activities within the business. The successful incumbent will be responsible for all activities throughout the employee lifecycle from sourcing and employee Onboarding to employee exit.

The role is permanent part-time role (enter number of days) with the opportunity to expand to full time role in future. At the moment, the employee base is approximately 30 with a mix of permanent full time, part-time and outsourced agency hire employees.

Working closely with the local management team, the role will provide all HR Admin, HR operations and HR business partnering support to the team.

Accountabilities, include but not limited to the below:

HR Admin

  • Manage and administer regular payrolls for all employees via the ADP platform as well as reviewing and submitted the time/ attendance records for outsourced employees.
  • Perform all payroll ‘on-boarding’ and ‘off-boarding’ formalities in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Manage employee benefits administration such as the Company’s Medical insurance, RRSP, and others!
  • Employee Records: maintains and updates employee files and records in accordance with local legislative requirements. Maintain an accurate and update to date database of employees.
  • Using pre-existing templates, draft and issue employment contracts with the approval of the General Manager.
  • Working with the dnata Catering Global head office HR team, draft and amend HR policies from time to time.
  • Act as a point of contact for all HR related employee queries and questions.

Operational

  • End to end recruitment including, drafting adverts, sourcing, conducting interviews, reference checks and on boarding.
  • Working closely with heads of functions, organize, coordinate, and conduct on boarding induction for new personnel upon joining.
  • Coordinate and oversee all joining formalities to ensure employees have all the necessary PPE, uniforms, IT equipment, ID cards etc.
  • Support the General Manager with manpower planning activities and performance management activities.
  • Investigate employee grievances and complaints and resolve in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Work with management to develop HR KPIs and metrics such as absenteeism, overtime, Man Hours per flight, Man minutes per meal etc.
  • Ensure compliance with all local legislation and regulations i.e., WorkSafeBC BC.

HR Business Partnering

  • Oversee the administration of the dnata performance appraisal process (MyBC), working closely with leaders to ensure all employees have performance reviews and development plans in place.
  • Ensure HR governance is imbedded and adhered to in all HR related activities.
  • Work with the dnata Training team in Head Office to develop and implement training plan for all dnata Catering Vancouver employees.
  • Collaborate with Head office HR team on all HR initiatives roll out and implementation, included Culture & Engagement.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualified in HR or related field (or equivalent)
  • Excellent English written and verbal skills.
  • Proficiency with MS word, excel and PowerPoint.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in HR generalist role with strong knowledge in HR processes and best practice
  • Ability to prioritize work effectively and work under pressure.
  • Ability to work well with management and senior leadership.
  • Can-do attitude, willing to work across all levels of HR activities from transactional to HR Business patterning.
