Role Summary: 

The Finance Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial operations, reporting, budgeting, and compliance activities at dnata Catering Canada. This role works closely with the Director Finance to support strategic financial planning, manage risk, and ensure operational transparency and efficiency in all financial matters. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee daily financial operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and reporting 
  • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with organizational goals 
  • Prepare and manage annual budgets and rolling forecasts 
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, and audit standards 
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for senior leadership 
  • Perform variance analysis and financial modeling to support business decisions 
  • Monitor cash flow and working capital 
  • Promote and maintain clients / customers satisfaction 
  • Coordinate year-end closing and liaise with external auditors 
  • Identify opportunities for cost control, process improvement, and risk mitigation 
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical financial practices 
  • Authorize payments and the return of merchandise 
  • Supervise finance staff and support their professional development 
  • Resolve issues that may arise, including customer requests, complaints and supply shortages 
  • Collaborate with other departments to align financial planning with operational goal 

Qualifications & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA preferred) 
  • 3–5 years of progressive finance experience, preferably in catering, hospitality, or airline services 
  • Strong leadership and team management experience 
  • Proven knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial software systems 
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills 
  • Ability to work in a multicultural, fast-paced environment
