The role

The Operations Manager will be a key part of the leadership team and will oversee all food store and warehouse operations, and will be the point of contact with other departments in the organization. This individual is instrumental to ensure the success of the business operations and will help promote a company culture that encourages morale and performance.

Successful candidates will preferably have a Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management (or a related field) or an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or technical school. A prior experience in a management or leadership role is required, while a deep understanding of aviation operations, as well as manufacturing and food processing, is a plus. 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Make important policy, planning, and strategy decisions, including but not limited to managing the operational budget and
  • Develop and direct operational policies and procedures to ensure that quality standards are met and maintained.
  • Manage food, transportation, customer service, equipment, sanitation, warehousing, and maintenance departments. 
  • Drive process improvement to optimize productivity and efficiency by collaborating on policy deployment, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer-satisfaction, and employee relations
  • Implement programs to optimize workflow, accuracy, and productivity.
  • Lead supervisors to evaluate and take actions that are consistent with the company’s overall strategy.
  • Support employee communication with the management team as well as promoting a work culture that promotes top performance and high morale.  
  • Strive to maintain a safe work environment by carefully monitoring and following all safety regulations. 
  • Develop and control the Operations budget by monitoring actual performance against performance goals to ensure progress is being made and corrective action, if necessary, is taken.
  • Regularly confer with leadership team to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions. 
  • Track performance metrics and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Determine staff sizes and shift times to ensure efficiency in daily operations.
  • Strategize weekly, monthly and yearly objectives and ensures they are executed according to schedule.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments towards operational excellence.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management (or related field) or two-year Associate degree from an accredited college or technical school. 
  • A minimum of 7+ years experience in broad-based operations management and leadership. 
  • Previous experience in an Operations or Production Management position.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Strong analytical ability and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations.
  • Working knowledge of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) safety and regulatory requirements. 
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills to coordinate project activities.
